Finding the Right T1
Provider
Remember that the T1
provider you select will be your partner for quite some time so
take caution in your decision. The worst part of being with a bad
provider is the fact that it will affect your business. Dropped calls or
an internet connection that goes down can be disastrous to a business.
We found that the larger companies like AT&T and Sprint will release
companies from long term contracts it if is shown that the voice or data
T1 service was faulty on a regular basis, however the release from such
a contract will not help recoup the damages of the lost calls and
e-mails from the poor service. When shopping for a T1 provider we
suggest using a broker Continued
We suggest using a Telecom
Broker to walk you through your options and show you the
providers and services available. A broker or independent agent can help
reduce the time it takes you to shop around for a T1 provider by asking
you the questions once and searching through multiple providers to get
the service that is right for you. The agent helps steer clear of the
bias you will receive when speaking with one vendor as the agent will be
paid no matter which service you choose. As the agent doesn't work with
a specific provider like AT&T or Sprint, he or she will not push you
in that direction if they are not right for you. Broker

T1 - Is it Right for You?
Many customers are extremely price sensitive and cannot
afford the cost of a T1 which can be as much as 20 times more expensive
than a xDSL connection. Residential customers who are most sensitive to
price should not consider a T1 circuit unless then have a business
reason to pay for such a circuit and cannot access DSL
service. If SDSL is not available at your location, you can consider a fractional
T1 at slower upload and download bandwidth but also lower cost.
Most people don't realize that a DSL connection can be
just as fast as a T1 at 1.5Mbps. The shortcoming of DSL is that it is
oversubscribed. This means there is a finite amount of bandwidth
available and a customers speed can drop if other customers in the
neighborhood decide to use their service. SDSL (Synchronous DSL) is a
business class DSL and is ranked as a higher priority than residential
DSL or ADSL (Asynchronous DSL). This means it is not oversubscribed to
the extent than ADSL and is subject to fewer bandwidth restrictions. In
short, if price is your critical factor go with DSL. If reliability is
the critical factor purchase a dedicated T1. Continued
DS3 T3 Downward Price
Trends
Like most telecommunications services DS3
prices (commonly known at T3) have been falling for the last few
years. This is due to several factors. Competition has been heating up
since deregulation in 1996. The number of companies offering service has
exploded. With more competition in the marketplace service providers
have to reduce their prices to attract customer and keep them from going
to competitors. Service providers are desperate to keep margins but even
more desperate to keep adding customers. This competitive arena has
created a buyers market for DS3 lines and pricing is as favorable as it
has ever been! Continued
Which Connection is
Better T1 or DSL?
So are you looking for reliability or price? Reliability
becomes critical when customers or employees depend on your connection
for immediate responses. If your customers use your connection to access
your databases or your server or the internet then reliability of your
connection is critical. If your employees depend on your connections
because you host the e-mail server in house or host web servers, your
connections is considered critical. A critical connection can be viewed
much like a life line, without which your business would be negatively
impacted. Your monthly savings of having a sub-par connections will not
make up for the loss in productivity of your employees or loss of
customers when your DSL connections gets bogged down or cut off. To
reiterate, critical connections should be supported with a T1
connection. Continued

Pricing a T1 Line
Why not have the best of both worlds? An agent who
carried no bias for one particular carrier AND immediate feedback! While
this was not possible a few months ago, we have found a T1
line provider than can offer real-time quotes through its
agents. A real time quote give you information NOW. There is no waiting
to find pricing. Simply enter your information and compare pricing
immediately. Real time pricing will do for telecommunications shopping
what Expedia and Travelocity did for travel. So why wait? If you're
searching for a T1 line make sure you use a broker that can help you
with your search in real time. Continued
T1 Bandwidth is Getting
Cheaper!
T1 bandwidth pricing had reduced as companies have gone
out of business and the large number of telecommunications companies are
fighting for a place in a smaller market. While many service providers
did have room to lose margin, many have come dangerously close to the
edge of selling circuits at a loss and many have gone beyond this point.
It seems that in the race to the bottom many providers failed to learn
the lesson that selling at a loss does not create a long lasting and
healthy company no matter how many circuits or widgets you sell. Many
companies selling at a loss have already been in bankruptcy and look
like they will repeat this exercise as they did not learn from their
first go around. So, solvency of the T1
internet service provider should be a consideration when looking
at great bargains. Continued
Virtual Private
Networks (VPN)
One of the advantages of a VPN is that internet access is
not based only on the hub and spoke layout. The users away from the hub
are able to access the internet through their own connection rather than
going through the hub and creating a bottleneck. Users will only need to
connect through the hub if they need to access information from the
central database. When researching alternatives such as VPN,
like always, we recommend you consult with a professional and not just a
salesman for a VPN company. Make sure the individual you speak with is
unbiased and will give you the strengths and weaknesses of each product.

T1 Internet Service: What to
Consider
T1 connection is capable of delivering 1.5Mbps. DSL
connections are also capable of delivering this speed however they are
not nearly as reliable as a T1 connections and should not be considered
as a business connections unless it's SDSL and even then you will likely
have some downtime. See: Which
Connection is Better T1 or DSL? If you have critical information
being hosted or have a large number of users accessing the internet on a
regular basis, consider getting a T1 connection. T1 will support 50
workstations. Continued
OC3 Service Experts
An OC3 line is an ultra high-speed connection capable of
transmitting data at rates up to 155 Mbps. Some ISP's, large
corporations and universities with high-volume network traffic will
require an OC3 if they have an extremely high volume of traffic that
can't be handled by a DS3. An OC3 is so
large that some ISP's use this as the backbone to their network. If you
believe you're in the market for oc3
service. we recommend getting a hold of an expert.
Point to Point
(Private Line) T1
A point - to - point, also known as a private
line, is a circuit dedicated to one customer that connects 2
locations. Private lines can be provisioned to carry anywhere from
a fractional T1 to a full OC-48 of bandwidth. The cost of a private line
to consider is distance. An International or USA coast to coast private
line will be higher than connecting 2 Inter-state ( InterLATA ) offices
regionally close to one another and Intra-state ( IntraLATA ) within
your state. Continued |
